Same event, different charts

same event, different chart. How can astrology show the same big event across families, countries or the world?

What does the astrology show, when multiple people experience the same event? Like a divorce, or a world war? We all have unique charts, so they can’t all show the same thing. Or can they?

Astrology can cover anything from broad general issues, right down to our highly individual responses to it.

At any given moment we can locate and analyse the current position of the planets and the angles they’re making to each other. This gives us a general overview of energetic conditions that are surrounding us all.

How this energy manifests, then depends on how it overlays other, more specific charts. These charts can be your personal birth chart (natal astrology) or it can be a business chart, or a country charts (mundane astrology).

This gives us so much information about how a situation might pan out, and then how it may impact particular countries or individuals.

Family events
Often a major event will show up differently in the charts of various family members. For instance I’m currently downsizing from the family home, which is impacting myself, my husband and my son (who still lives with us). Across our three charts, the event is obvious - we are all currently experiencing rare, major outer planet transits to various chart angles. And this is the key - we are all living through the same event, but we are experiencing it differently.

Uranus is hitting my chart - and I’m restless and ready to toss everything to walk away to a new experience.

Neptune is hitting my husband’s chart. He is much more contemplative and existential about things as his old way of being seeps away. The dissolution is more upsetting.

Pluto is hitting my son’s chart, and the profound transformation that he’s experiencing will remake him and launch him out into true adulthood.

So all of us are experiencing the same event through a different lens. As an astrologer, just the fact that a major transit it happening simultaneously to all of us speaks to events located within the family unit. Other events that play out this way will be family deaths, divorces and windfalls.

World wide events
When wars and recessions hit the world, there will be indications in the general astrology maps of the time. Astrologers assess historic cycles and precedents to forecast and prepare. But how these events will influence individuals are highly personal. During war, some people are more impacted than others. Some may experience grief, discomfort, lucky escapes, ethical dilemmas or business success. And that’s what our individual charts will show.

On a national level, the country chart can show how ‘successful’ they’ll be at war - will they win or lose? And how long the recovery may take afterwards.

When dealing with general, country and individual charts, there can be a hierarchy of influence. And that’s worth keeping in consideration. The astrology does get complicated.

Perhaps the biggest takeaway of this, is the reminder that while we live in an increasingly individualised way, our charts reflect the cosmic truth that we are endlessly connected and dependant on each other. While our experiences will be unique, we are intimately tied to everyone else on this planet.
