What does ‘lean in’ actually mean?

Text graphic - what does 'lean in' actually mean?

Often I catch myself saying ‘lean in’… to [insert astrological factor]. But what does it actually mean when I say this?

Each sign or planet comes imbued with rulerships and meaning. Planets are the ‘what’ and Zodiac signs are the ‘how’. Planets describe personal attributes, and the signs describe different qualities.

For instance Saturn is the ‘should’ planet that rules serious stuff like hard work, commitment and discipline. When I tell you to ‘lean in’ to that, I’m asking you to utilise your work ethic, or actively welcome a schedule, or take on an obligation.

Another example - Mars is the planet that brings motivation, zest, physical effort, assertion and confrontation. To ‘lean in’ to this planet, we’re taking initiative in our life, addressing a situation where we’ve been subjugated, or just fighting for something we want. Perhaps we’re bringing our physical strength or stamina.

When Zodiac signs are the focus, I’ll be referring to various personal qualities that we can ‘lean in’ to. For example Aquarius is logical, rational and has good perspective while Cancer is nurturing, emotional and connecting. So when we ‘lean in’ to a sign, we’re finding those traits within ourselves and trying to bring them to the forefront.

Each of us has every sign and planet sitting somewhere in our birth chart. Perhaps we’re strong in Libra, and have those traits in spades, but we overlook Aries. Or perhaps we can easily access our Venus function (love) but struggle with Mercury (communication).

Some areas will be easier for you to ‘lean in’ to than others. And that’s part of the fun challenge. We learn little from leaning in to qualities or parts of ourselves that are already strong. It’s accessing the weaker parts that can prove the most transformative. So if we’re short on ‘Libra’, we might find these qualities more easy to access during Libra-laden skies. Leaning in at that time can provide fresh insights and personal development breakthroughs.

The aim of ‘leaning in’ is to discover under-developed parts of ourselves that just need a little exercise, or to bolster qualities that need some support.

Once you better understand your personal birth chart, you’ll better understand the areas where you have strengths and weaknesses, thus knowing what attributes and qualities you need to ‘lean in’ to in order to become a more successful and empowered version of yourself.
