Nic & Keith’s astrological synastry
Nicole and Keith have always been a curious celebrity couple - their red carpet PDAs, Keith’s rehab stint so soon after marrying, their separate work ethic that never undermined their unified family values (until now). With two kids and 19 years of marriage, they obviously had a lot going for their partnership. Cognisant of them being real people, currently experiencing a real moment of distress, I am going to dig into the astrological dynamics between them, but with the utmost of respect. Diving into celeb charts is an interesting exercise for astrology lovers - we can see real case studies of charts playing out in ways that eclipse the regular events that occur in our mundane lives.
First let’s check out Nicole’s chart - we have a solid birth time for her.
Our Nic is a Gemini Sun, Sagittarius Moon and Scorpio Ascendant. Her aloofness and instinctive privacy and mystique shrouds a curious person, agile personality, who seeks adventure and loves a thrill. Neptune sits in the 1st house - this brings glamour, and an elusive quality, along with an ability to morph into the characters she plays. Her Scorpio traits enable her to dive deeply and investigate the depths of her characters, which in turn would confront and excite her own self identity. This thrill is perhaps what keeps her diving into taboo and uncomfortable roles that others would shy away from.
The South Node sits on her Ascendant (at 9 o’clock). At times her intensity, focus and drive would be exhausting to both herself and those around her.
With Venus and Jupiter both in Leo, sitting astride the Midheaven (12 o’clock), career is everything. There is good fortune and huge success available. Leo is the performer, the self expression and creativity. She’s able to put her performance into the public sphere. She is very comfortable in the spotlight. A Leo Venus person doesn’t mind a red carpet.
Without a confirmed time, we’ll approach Keith’s chart with a bit of caution. Let’s pop his around the outside of Nic’s. We can still see Keith’s basic placements and see a lot of their chemistry.
Keith is a watery kind of guy, with a Scorpio Sun, Cancer Moon and potentially a Cancer Ascendant. Water people experience the world through emotions. Their world is informed by their heart, memories and responses. They are not people who can pretend for long. Keith isn’t an actor, he’s a musician, with a Mercury/Neptune conjunction allowing him to dive into his soul for lyrics and to weave them into melodies that people can relate to.
Looking at connections between their charts, we can see some great stuff – a Venus/Pluto contact is simmering, transformative and filled with passionate love. Moon/Mercury in Cancer allows Nic to help Keith articulate his depths. She gets him. His Sun sits on her Ascendant – a beautiful connection point in passionate Scorpio. He gets her. And his Saturn trines to her Midheaven, bringing support and commitment to her career and life goals. All in all, they have more synastry contacts than most couples. There’s more than enough here to make a successful relationship – and this relationship has survived for 20 celebrity years.
To be picky though, where their synastry falls apart a little is in the elemental mix. Nic is a much more restless soul. She needs excitement. She needs the limelight. She needs work. There’s an interesting vulnerability around her creative self expression (Chiron square Sun). Perhaps it’s what drives her to keep pushing despite all the accolades. Each role may help her discover her limits and better understand herself. With the obsessive Scorpio driving her, keeping up with her deep dives would be tricky. She would need someone hugely secure and settled to give her the space to do this. And while Keith is committed to helping her achieve success, this immersion into projects and characters may never have sat comfortably for him. Water signs can need a constant level of validation and empathy. They need to be secure and sure in their relationships.
There’s also a slight Mars mis-match between these two. Mars is our drive, assertion and modus operandi. It’s also our sexual drive. Keith’s sits in Earthy Capricorn – which often manifests as strong physical drives and a practical approach. Nic’s is in Libra, ruling her chart from the 12th house. This is more quietly aggressive, and competitive from behind the scenes.
What actually happened between them is their business. Did Keith slip back into addiction? It’s possible – Saturn is transiting his Chiron, setting off his natal Chiron/Neptune trine. Is there someone else? Possibly. Because men only really seem to leave unhappy situations when they’re cheating. Transiting Neptune is approaching his Saturn, which could show being transfixed by something that isn’t true. Reality can blur from either drugs or a new infatuation. 2027/2028 looks tricky for Keith. If he were a client with a known history of addiction, I’d be advising him to put all his safeguards in place.
Nic has been experiencing the Neptune/Saturn conjunction squaring her Sun for the last 12 months. Her mother died, and her marriage has ended. Neptune has a devastating way of dissolving the life foundations that once seemed unshakeable. It’s destabilising and hugely distressing. The next few months look tricky for her – which makes sense. The good news is that from early 2026 Saturn and Neptune both move on, and Nic will be able to start putting the pieces of her life back together. Her progressed Moon is shifting into the fourth house – her focus will be foundations, family and real estate. The good news is that throughout 2026 she can expect even more career success. Jupiter will sweep through and reassure her that she’s on track. Career can provide a place of joy.
It doesn’t matter who you are, or how rich you are, marriage breakdowns are awful for everyone. I can’t imagine how much more complicated it is to negotiate it when you’re also crazy amounts famous. I wish them both all the best, with a swift track out of the turmoil, and back to a new place of calm.
And is synastry good to look at in a relationship? Yes. Understanding how you do and don’t easily fit with your partner is essential for long term happiness. If you know that you respond differently to certain facets of life, then you can manage it. You can understand them, they can understand you and you can find compromises that work. All relationships are just a set of dynamics. Understanding the astrological synastry is like reading the instruction manual for how to keep your relationships humming along smoothly.
