Saturn enters Aries (and it’s not all bad)
How was your weekend? Especially today. What is going on for you? Any chance you're feeling some stirrings, or resolve around something new? Perhaps a sense that it’s time to get your taxes in order, or to fix the broken fence, or start planning for an overseas trip? Or that good old one - I might book a PT session and get back to the gym.
Whatever the life area, the ideas sprouting may have a sense of ‘this is the right thing to do’. This will help me get ahead, or stave off misfortune, or this is wise or prudent or SENSIBLE.
Because Saturn, our ‘should’ planet of obligation, commitment, limitations, discipline and boundaries changed signs at 2.10 this afternoon. While some of the planets shift every few weeks, Saturn only changes every few years, so we’ll feel this one.
Use the link in the comments to go and figure out which house of your chart is ruled by ARIES. This is now the house that Saturn is influencing. The topics of this house become the Saturn focus for the next few years.
Generally Saturn in Aries is ‘contained fire’ and not really seen favourably in astrology texts - Saturn constrains and dampens the Aries courage and combat. So together there’s a sense of our pioneering spirit being lessened or depressed. But I’m not so convinced about the negativity of ‘fall’ planets - they often can be used in unusual ways to create excellent outcomes. For me a ‘contained fire’ is an oven that cooks food reliably, or a heater keeping us warm. It’s a boxer, ready to fight after training for months or individuals taking responsibility for themselves.
Perhaps the bad reputation of Saturn is based on the fact that it’s not a ‘fun’ planet. It’s the ‘home by 9’ planet (which is just fine by me). Aries generally can be a bit loose and unplanned, and your Aries house might suffer from unjustified confidence and a ‘we’ll sort it out later’ mentality. Having Saturn come through might be a helpful tweak that actually makes these life topics work more successfully. Saturn in Aries can be about controlling the direction and finding mastery in a new area of life.
This influence happens every 29 years, and the last period was Apr 1996 - March 1999. If you’re old like me, you can look back and have a think about what you achieved during that period. And if you’re even older, look back to March 1967 - Apr 1969 which was the period prior. Both were fascinating historic periods that produced a bunch of strong leaders that went on to be influential for many years to come.
Whatever house is being impacted, it’s time for you to take personal responsibility in this area – sort out any messes and set yourself up better for the future. It might not be easy, but it’ll be worthwhile.
